What is the Window Capture Layout Extra?

For people who need to take frequent screen captures of individual windows, such as digital media journalists or bloggers, we have provided the facility to quickly capture an image of a window simply by dropping it on the Window Capture layout extra.

The layout extra provides two options, depending on whether you drop the window on the left or right half of the layout extra. These are:

Capture & Copy

When a window is dropped on this option the image of the window is captured and saved to the clipboard, ready to be pasted in an email for example.

Capture & Save

When a window is dropped on the Capture & Save option the window image is captured and saved to the Desktop in an autogenerated filename. 

In the Window Capture options in the Layout Extras tab of the Mosaic preferences you can specify whether the window should be captured with or without its shadow and in the case of Capture & Save whether the file is saved as a PNG (with transparency) or a JPG (with an opaque background).
