By default the layouts are displayed when you drag a window, and you can prevent them from being displayed by holding ⌥ as you drag. However, we recognise this may not suit every person. We have provided a number of options to suit most preferences:
Show Layouts On Drag Window To Screen Top
This can be turned on by changing the Show Layouts option in the Behaviour tab of the Mosaic preferences. With this option enabled the layout panel will not be displayed when you drag a window, unless you drag the cursor up to the top of the screen. As soon as the cursor touches the top of the screen, the layout panel will appear. This allows you to choose whether the panel is displayed purely using Drag & Drop.
Show Layouts On Drag Window Holding ⌥
This is another choice in the Show Layouts option in the Behaviour tab of the Mosaic preferences. If you enable this option the default behaviour is inverted and layouts will not be displayed when you drag a window unless you are holding the ⌥ key. This may suit you if you apply layouts to windows much less frequently than rearranging them manually.
Click & Select
Click & Select is an alternative method of applying a layout to a window which does not display a panel when you drag a window. For more details view the Click & Select article in the FAQ.
TouchBar
For new MacBook Pro users with the TouchBar hardware, we have provided a TouchBar mode. This is similar to Click & Select and is activated by pressing a hotkey, however when activated the TouchBar will display the available layouts and they can be applied by simply tapping the layout on the TouchBar. When you activate the TouchBar function using the hotkey a full screen panel is displayed showing a preview of the active window to which the layout will be applied.
