Auto layout on multi-screen system

I work with the native monitor of my Mac and and external monitor. Whenever I drag an app on the auto layout on the external screen, the auto layout dialog opens on the native monitor and the app is the placed on the native monitor, too. I do not know, how to make all this work on the external monitor. Does anyone know, how to fix this problem?
